The idea behind DSST is great, and I love it. I can literally get 3 credit hours through DSST for a fraction of the price of a single credit hour at my 4-year college, in a fraction of the time.These guides (inc vol I), however, aren't really what I expected. So, here it is:The good:- This book is cheap. Think about it. This textbook-sized book replaces **8** textbooks in that you can essentially skip up to 8 classes, and at the very least 8 different books.- DSST is cheap. Period.- EXCELLENT way to test out of electives.The bad:I've taken a number of DSST tests now with the help of this volume and volume I. While they cram a lot of information into the 25-40 pages devoted to the test, the information covered is in no way comprehensive. That is, you absolutely will encounter questions on the tests on topics the book never even mentioned. In fact, today I took the introduction to world religions test and about 15 questions in, had to ask the proctor if maybe I had chosen the wrong test-- it was that bad. I've never failed a DSST test but sometimes I wonder how that's possible.In conclusion: This is the official guide, one I would expect to be comprehensive. It isn't. However, with the help of the book I have never failed a test. The chapters are a great foundation, but for the more complex subjects I'll either just take the class or heavily supplement with other reference guides.Happy testing!PS: Think twice about Intro to World Religions, the test is stressful.
This book is very informative and I learned a lot about health after studying to take the DSST exam for "Here's To Your Health". However, two things you should be aware of. 1). This book did not fully prepare me for the test. In addition to this study material I also googled everything I could find and studied all of the Quizlet materials and repeatedly took practice tests. my score 379. required score to pass 400. 2). I tell you this so you are aware that on my test day April 5, 2016 at USF in Tampa, the center did not show "Here's To Your Health" as an option to select from the list of DSST exams. The office personnel researched this site: [...] and discovered that the test name changed as of April 1, 2016 and new material was added to the exam. The new name is "Health & Human Development" and includes new content and content outlines reviewed by the American Council on Education (ACE)". I made the choice to take the test anyway since I was already there and took vacation time from work. In retrospect I should not have taken it because there were over a dozen questions on that exam that I did not recognize from any of the materials I studied and specifically not from this book. Good luck on your next DSST exam.
Great book especially for the value. It covers six of the exams and while none of them are a complete resource, this book will give you enough to pass. There are also some online resources you can use, but for me personally, this book was enough. When you are preparing for the DSST exams, regardless of what resources you want to use, this book should be your first, and most basic reference.
If you are taking any DSSTs in this book, preferably if you are taking more than one, you need this. Peterson's is great at giving you exactly what you need to know for your DSST exams. Granted that some exams require supplemental study materials, but so far in my experience, it has been the primary source, and I know that in the future, even if an exam needs more supplement study material, I will still need this book! Hope this helps you decide on whether or not to purchase.

Bought for my public speaking DSST, I passed! I have given to others who used for other tests and failed....but I have a feeling they didnt really study
yeah, I mean, what else should I say? I got it to learn, and it helped me pass tests. Yay. I would not use this book as a primary resource by any means however. supplement with other readings and such. especially the world religions and Civil war and reconstruction.
Very helpful to prepare for the exams.
