Mometrix (yellow and black book) was the closest to the actual test. I worked through every page in this Apex book,plus - Mometrix, Kaplan and the red one (whatever that one is)
Definitely more accurate if not harder test questions in regards to the vocab and reading sections. Close to the actual test for the others as well. Definitely recommend this book as its vocab sections were more challenging I thought than the real test even. The math sections were accurate in regards to the material but the real test is just more complicated and time consuming (which sucks with the time restraint).
I’m only 30 pages in and the number of mistakes is staggering. It’s fine if you look past them and look at the overall context but for portions that are harder to me like math, the mistakes are really confusing. Like they incorrectly state the difference of cubes as (a+b) (a^2 + ab + b^2) and other issues.
I am going to UW where I am majoring in Physics and attend ROTC there. This study guide does give a pretty good outline of what you can expect on the AFOQT but, many of the questions have not been checked for correctness. I have, for the most part, noticed errors in the math sections as I am not as well equipped to spot the errors in the other sections.
I really like this study guide. It only needs minor review for errors but would not stop me from buying again! Will see how well I do using it! It breaks it down into different sections, how and what to expect. With each section having questions and answers with explanations.
I bought this book since I am retaking the test and need to bump up my scores. This book is not like the real test. Yes the review sections go into great detail for the Verbal and Quantitative section, but the practice problems ARE NOT LIKE THE TEST. So if you need this book to go into great detail about things you may not remember then sure, buy it. Just be able to look pass the simple mistakes and do not use the practice problems for practice. I would recommend Barron's or some other book tho.
Too much fillings, I felt reading same stuff over and over again. too much concentrating to explain you basics like different shapes and again few pages later a bunch of text about shapes. It does not require 11 pages to explain basic geometry, perimeter and area.
Great study guide! All the answered are explained and the material is very in depth. The apex book has made a huge impact on my studying!
