My decision to read MY ENEMY, MY EARL resulted in several hours of delightful entertainment. I have also added Tammy Andresen to my list of favorite authors, as her writing style definitely appealed to me as a reader. From well-depicted characters to a plot that was compellingly carried out, I thoroughly enjoyed every scene in the first book of A Laird to Love series.After being a soldier for England, Ewan McDougal is finally able to make his way back to Scotland. The Earl of Dumfries knows his lands need much work to once again be productive, and the best way is to marry a woman with a nice dowry. But before reaching his destination, he stops to assist a disabled carriage. Upon discovering that an English woman is the passenger, he makes assumptions about her based on his dislike for her country. Lady Clarissa Burton has left England to avoid any gossip after an incident, and she also forms an opinion about the Scotsman because of how she currently perceives most men. Though she nor Ewan thought they would ever see each other again, they are in for a surprise.MY ENEMY, MY EARL is an engaging romance that grabbed my attention from the start and held me spellbound all the way through. Ewan is a wonderful hero, and he proves the label should be his over and over again. Besides doing good deeds, he is honest and candid, and this led to some humorous conversations with his best friend. Ewan and Clarissa have some talks filled with quick-wit, too, and I chuckled at some of their rather mocking comments. There are moments when emotions take over a situation, and any events where desire is in control are tenderly passionate. Many of the secondary characters had fascinating personalities, and I hope lots of them get to tell their own stories. I will certainly be reading more of the books in this series.
This was a wonderful Scottish romance and Ewan was an awesome hero. Clarissa and Ewan both had issues to overcome that made the story interesting and made their characters feel real. It was just so beautiful to see how much they began to care about each other and how they tried to understand each other's problems. I found that I enjoyed watching Clarissa get her backbone and to stand up to her father and former betrothed for what she wanted and to finally stop running from her problems. Truly a most enjoyable romance.
I just love Tammy Andresen's books they're just wonderful her story lines are always well thought out they're well written characters are all well defined and I just love this story I'm sitting here at 3:48 in the morning in the bathtub it's my favorite place to read and I just had to get to the end of it that's how I am with her books that's how all of her books are you just have to keep reading until you get to the end then when you get to the end you're sorry it's over you want more so consequently you by the next book because you can't wait to read it I really do love her books she's a fantastic writer she just grips you from the beginning and she grabs your heart and soul into her book I love it I give it 10 Stars if I could
I have not read these books in order and wasn't lost.Not sure if I would say the romance built slowly because it just seemed to happen. There is lovemaking outside of marriage, with heat level 3.5-4 out of 5, not vulgar.We do get HEA, no cheating and no cliffhanger. We have an epilogue 1 year in the future. This is not about clans fighting. There is a villain, but a mild one, little on drama and suspense. (ljb)

Clarissa💃💋 doesn't know it yet and he doesn't know her either, so it's a big surprise the next day when EwanðŸºðŸ†ðŸŒ‹ is introduced to her as the Earl of Dumfries!Lack of trust by Clarissa💃💋 drives most of the story, since she has been 🔥burned badly once. EwanðŸºðŸ†ðŸŒ‹ comes on so strong to Clarissa💃💋 that she thinks he is another rake that will only break her heart💔 again.
Evan and Clarissa.Great start to the series. It was not love at first sight, they were both battling their pasts. But slowly broke down each others walls and found love.Very likeable main characters, and secondary characters which made me download the rest of the series. A great way to spend a couple hours.
This is the first book I've read by this author. She is going to easily become a new favorite. This is such a good read and you're drawn into the lives of the characters from the start. There are some hot scenes and a slimy villain to keep you on the edge. Definitely recommend!
Everything Tammy writes is amazing. And My Enemy, My Earl is amazing. Thank you Tammy for introducing PTSD, because it has been hurting men from the first wars. I highly recommend this book 💖💖💖
