This is one of the best books available to put the entire picture of the assassination into perspective. Corsi does a thorough job of looking at all aspects of this and who really wanted Kennedy out of the way, who engineered it, who performed it, and the results of the tragedy. It does point out probably actual assassins, but that is only a small part of the picture, as who ordered it, who organized it, and the roles that both Oswald and Ruby played are also examined. Oswald had CIA connections and Ruby had mob connections, but the roots of the operation were in the past, in the Eisenhower administration, the Joseph McCarthy Red Scare, the coup d'état in Guatemala by the fledgling CIA, the mob connections of Joseph Kennedy, the Bay of Pigs, the involvement in Vietnam, the scheming of LBJ and Nixon, and on and on. Each chapter reveals the level of complicity and eventually you get a full picture of the scope of this conspiracy, which it is shown without a doubt to have been, with Oswald only a minor player, and probably not a shooter at all. The only fault of the book is that it doesn't quite wrap up or tie together all the chapters, despite an attempt to do so in the conclusion. It also has numerous careless errors, especially dates and names. It says something occurred in 1970, and then in the next paragraph it happened in 1961. The latter date has to be correct because the assassination was in 1963. The same thing happens as a person's name changes and it is up to the reader to decipher which name is the right one for the situation being covered.
Lot of respect for Jerome Corsi as a writer and political activist/ reformer, but very disappointed in this book. Although he does break a little new ground in pursuit of the Grand Conspiracy, most of the book is a rehash of decades-old JFK info, and the new material (some intriguing) is based on sources that Corsi never establishes as credible. And I cannot understand the shoddy copy-editing, fact-checking and proofreading work by the publisher, especially for an author at Corsi's level. The abundant typos, misspellings, blatant errors of fact---inexplicable.And if you're title is "Who REALLY Killed Kennedy?" you better deliver the punchline by the end of the book, not just hints and allegations, but names and specific charges. Corsi never REALLY does.
Lot of great information contained within these pages. Really makes a person wonder about the official line of Oswald as the lone assassin & how long this theory has been promulgated & dissenters labeled as "conspiracy theorists." Like questioning the Warren Commission's conclusions makes you paranoid. That said, the author makes mistakes that make ME wonder how accurate all the information he compiled is. Not to be a spelling & grammar cop, but if you get simple things wrong, what about the information you're presenting? The list of errors is long & sometimes bewildering. Examples come from page 241. 'Silvia Odio' is spelled Silvio Odio, Sylvia Odio, & Silvia Odio again. Page 238 we have a Bill Bresser of the Teamsters Union in Cleveland. I'm assuming that's Jackie Presser's father Bill. Sergio Aracha Smith becomes Sergio Arcaha Smith. I even think at one point 1964 was given as the year of JFK's assassination. Or was it November 23rd? These are not isolated instances. Far from it. The title of the book is misleading as well. I still give the author credit for the voluminous research required. Maybe next time a proofreader could be used.
Ho hum I thought as I ordered this book on Amazon! Yet another tome to add to my teeming shelves on the Kennedy assassination in Dallas on November 22, 1961. Boy was I wrong! This is the best book on the scope and depth of assassination research yet! The book brings the reader up to date on the state of the Kennedy case fifty years after a popular, young and progressive POTUS was brutally slain in Texas. Why do I recommend this book? The reasons are many. The first reason is the author Dr. Jerome R. Corsi.earned a Ph.D from Harvard. He is currently serving as a staff reporter for online news giant WND. Corsi has written several New York Times bestsellers. He has searched thousands of documents stored at the JFK Presidential Library in Boston, the National Archives and several other sources. Corsi has mastered the research, writes with clearness and makes his points with force. Among his conclusions:a. The study of the wounds indicates Kennedy was shot from both the front and the back. Corsi disses the single bullet theory.b. Lee Harvey Oswald was probably a KGB or CIA double agent who knew Jack Ruby. Corsi contends Oswald was a part of the conspiracy to murder Kennedy.c. Shooters probably fired at the motorcade from the notorious grassy knoll.d. Assassination plans to murder Kennedy either in Chicago or Tampa did not work out.e. The mob and rogue elements in the CIA were involved in the assassination according to Corsi.f. Kennedy would have brought home troops from Vietnam but the conspirators wanted a buildup of the US presence in Vietnam and for that they needed LBJ in the White House.g. The Bay of Pigs fiasco led to the conspirators belief that Kennedy needed to be punished by death for his lack of US air force support during the invasion.h. Men like E. Howard Hunt who successfully planned the invasion of Guatemala in 1954 and also was a Watergate plumber was also involved in the hit on Kennedy. Corsi also points his finger of guilt at Allen Dulles who was fired by Kennedy as CIA chief following the Bay of Pigs disaster. Whether the reader goes along with Corsi's views the book is, nevertheless, of extreme value because it goes into great detail on all the major players involved in the crime of the century.. If you are an old hand in the study of the JFK assassination or have never read a book on the tragedy this is the place to turn to for the best information available. Excellent and essential reading!
Reading books and watching documentaries about the facts and theories surrounding the JFK assassination is one of my husband's favorite hobbies. I bought this book for him and he loves it. He's learned a lot that he hadn't known and keeps me updated about all the new things he's finding out. He's spent all his spare time reading this book and is totally engrossed in it. If this is an interest of yours, you'll like this book.
