This book is a bunch of old quoted and interviews compiled together - seriously? Just a money ploy by them.!He's an impressive thinker and anarchist, but his investing strategies aren't impressive (Louis James of the International Specualtor has put BUYs on way overpriced securities that all went bankrupt (Banks Island Gold, Midway Gold, Rubicon Minerals or its known now as RubiCONNED, and a couple others that were dogs).Listen to him talk about how to value junior gold companies, it's very elementary with nothing really insightful, then listen to someone like Rick Rule or Marin Katusa and you start to see how Doug Casey got rich (having friends like Rick Rule tell him about good stocks).Don't get me wrong, you win some and you lose some - but charging $1k annual subscription for someone to rush buys on stocks that are north of a dollar already isn't "cheap"

Doug Casey is an independent thinker who has been through enough market cycles and life experiences to provide helpful insights to any serious investor. He's willing to challenge accepted orthodoxy (i.e., he'll take on the Fed) in a way that mainstream authors and publications aren't allowed to. A vital read for anyone willing to question the man behind the green curtain.
Old and out of date data. Not worth the price.
Unlike "Crisis Investing" a previous Doug Casey book I have read... which was a well written, interesting, and informative, "Right on the Money" seems to be a very lazy cut-and-paste and disjointed compilation of Doug's investment e-mails over the past several years. Although I still find his views interesting and thought provoking, not alot of new material here.If you have never followed Doug Casey before, it is not a bad way to catch up on his view-points. My expectation was a book more like "Crisis Investing".... for looking forward into the situations we can expect to see in the next 10 years. I hope Doug does "write" another book looking forward to the rest of the 2010's and into the 2020's, but I was disappointed with "Right on the Money".
After getting lucky this author is loose and free. Living the life while decrying the very system that sent him his luck. His forecast of doom and gloom in this book has been proven false. To read this author one needs to read much newer releases.
I've been a follower of Doug's for many years.This book, which is basically a compilation of interviews from 09 through 2012 was a bit of a let down.Reading his point of view from 09 on Gold, Land, Cattle, non-US countries, etc., is old news.While I always enjoy Doug's writing; this isn't his writing. The insights are dated and only relevant with the benefit of now looking at the points of view in hindsight.He's the consumate speculator and investor. I still respect his points of view, but after reading it, I donated it to the library as I didn't qualify to stay in my own investment library even though I have all of Doug's prior works.
Came in good shape. Nice book.
